The Aurelia Pendant — 18K Gold Vermeil Artistic Feather with Cushion Golden Lab Sapphire

A feather is the lightest thing in the world, and the hardest thing to hold. Let one drift through an open window and it will not land where you point — it follows the draught and turns on its own mind. The Aurelia is that single feather caught mid-turn, held in the breath after the wind has let go.

We did not copy a bird. We sculpted the motion of one: a ribbon of gold that spirals upward in a long, slow S, the barbs curling and uncurling around nothing but air, a small scroll turning over at the crown while the lower feather draws down to a fine point. The piece is deliberately slender, almost twice as tall as it is wide — a line, not a fan. Nothing is symmetrical; the whole thing leans in one direction, like a flame turning away from the wind.

At the centre the ribbon gathers and holds one cushion-cut golden sapphire, a lab-created stone of warm honeyed gold — the colour of late-afternoon light held in a square. Around it, cool white moissanite is pavé-set along the flat faces of the feather in clean, ordered rows, each stone caught by its own small gold bead. The curling edges, the delicate tips and the central quill are left in honest, high-polished gold, so light runs the full length of the piece and the feather keeps breathing. The centre stone is held by four small, even prongs.

It is finished to a bright mirror polish in a warm gold, the colour of low sun rather than anything brassy, and hangs from a fine chain that lets the feather turn when she moves. On the reverse, a small honest stamp: 925, vermeil, our maker’s mark.

This is for the woman who does not move in a straight line. It settles at the collarbone and follows the body instead — turning above a dark silk neckline at dinner, the golden centre holding one warm flame while the white stones flicker one by one; quiet with a simple blouse the next morning, still entirely itself. It is not a feather for a hat. It is a feather for the woman who decides her own wind.
